INRS conducts research in four broad sectors: water, earth and the environment; energy, materials and telecommunications; human, animal and environmental health; and urbanization, culture and society.

Dedicated to research and advanced training, the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS) is present where issues of society require. Dynamic and innovative, the INRS has redesigned its organization to meet the challenges of the 21st century bringing together scientific teams working in complementary areas. In from eight to four research centers, the Institute enhances its research and training, in addition to increasing its capacity to intervene in strategic areas for the future of Quebec:

Water Earth Environment

Telecommunications Energy Materials

Human Health, Animal and Environmental

Urbanization Culture Society.

Scholarships and Student Aid

INRS strongly encourages students to take advantage of programs scholarship organizations private or public subsidies. Furthermore, the INRS has for several years, a financial support program whose main objective is to enable students to devote full time to their studies and research that entails.

The program funding is for:

regular student – Those students admitted and enrolled in an administrative and pedagogical course that INRS alone is responsible

students enrolled via distance learning in a master’s programs and / or PhD program outside the center of INRS – These are students enrolled in master’s or doctoral program at another university and who, under the responsibility of a professor at INRS, just perform in one of its centers an internship that contributes to the achievement of their memory or their thesis.

Research

The INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Research Centre, a component of the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), plays a vital role in research, training and technology transfers conducted in Quebec in the areas of human, animal and environmental health. INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier, which has approximately fifty faculty members, uses its extensive expertise in immunology and microbiology to determine the impact of infectious pathogens, cancer cells or organ transplants on the immune system, as well as to characterize various immune effector cells.

Using various models and epidemiological analyses, the Centre conducts research into environmental toxicology and biotechnology with a view to identify and characterize the impact of environmental pollutants on human health. Research activities are also geared towards improving the quality of the environment using biotechnology and microorganisms to manage major problems caused by pollution. In parallel, researchers at INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier are involved in the development of functional foods and new methods of food conservation, given the illnesses they can cause. In addition, researchers at INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier focus on the development and mode of action of drugs and other bioactive molecules.

The INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier research centre is renowned both locally and internationally for its biomedical expertise and represents a vital crossroad for health-related research in Quebec. Members of the Centre’s team have exceptional, even unique, analytical capabilities in the fields of chemistry, microbiology and immunology, genomics and proteomics as well as molecular and cellular biology. The established credibility of the Centre’s doping control laboratory played a key role in the World Anti-Doping Agency’s decision to establish its headquarters in Montreal. In addition, on the strength of its expertise in immunity, infectious diseases and cancer as well as its solid experience in using animal models, the National Centre for Experimental Biology – a major project funded by the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and the Quebec government – was set up on the City of Laval campus. The INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier research centre is also one of the cornerstones in the development of the City of Biotechnology and Human Health of Metropolitan Montreal, an initiative promoted by INRS.

Born of a desire for an institution of higher learning in public administration in Québec, ENAP is the public administration university. Its mission is to contribute to the development of public administration both theoretically and in practice.

ENAP divides its mission into four broad areas: training, services to organizations, research, and services offered in partnership. In carrying out this mission, ENAP seeks to set the standard for public administration in Québec.

ENAP offers graduate study programs that are at once adapted to the needs of individuals and public organizations and designed to meet the objectives set out by universities and professional bodies. They may be taken part time or full time in Québec City or Montréal and in most cases at all three satellite campuses, in Gatineau, Trois-Rivières, and Saguenay.

ENAP is for both practicing professionals and young undergraduates looking to make a career as public administration analysts or advisors. There are courses to suit everyone. ENAP also offers 12 short 15 credit courses for those looking to take things one step at a time. There are also special training courses for federal public service managers. Find out more at www.etudiants.enap.ca

The Université du Québec – École Nationale d’Administration Publique was created in 1969 to give Quebec an institution of higher education dedicated to the field of public administration and contribute to its development both as a field of knowledge and as a field practice. ENAP is one of nine universities in the network of the University of Quebec.

The headquarters of the Université du Québec – École Nationale d’Administration Publique is located in Quebec in the St. Roch neighborhood in the heart of the new downtown. The school is bordered by St-Roch garden and is close to bars, restaurants and transportation.

The building is new ENAP and houses an auditorium with 200 seats, modern and comfortable classrooms and computer labs equipped with advanced technology and room video conferencing. The library is vast and spacious, integrated network of libraries at the University of Quebec.

Academic Programs

ENAP offers 2nd and 3rd cycle programs of study that the university has adapted to the needs of both individuals and public organizations.

The course is aimed at two main audiences: managers in office and the new baccalaureate graduates who opt for a career as an analyst or consultant in public administration. Everyone can find a program suitable to their profile.

Student Profile

Public managers at all levels and professionals in a management position

The graduates of the 1st cycle from university faculties of social, political, administrative, human

The staff of public and private networks of health, education and the municipal.

Diverse Faculty

Staff education and research has about forty people from various sources, having studied at major universities in Europe and North America. This team is supplemented by lecturers and associate professors and guests holding a solid experience in public management, are often senior officials of the governments of Quebec and Canada. They bring extensive experience in the practice of public administration.

Research

The development of research at ENAP placed on the creation of centers of excellence, bringing together teachers around fields of expertise. Several clusters of expertise and research chairs have thus emerged.

The Center for Public Administration

Laboratory study on public policies and globalization (LEPPM)

The Center’s research and evaluation expertise (CREXE)

The Chair’s Capital Leadership in the Public Sector

The Research Center on Governance (CERGO)

The Bell Chair in technology and work organization

The Task Force on Public Policy and Health (GÉPPS).

At the forefront of technology in its campus located in downtown Montreal, the Université du Québec – École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) offers an environment conducive to an exciting student life. Its educational programs specializing in applied and engineering-oriented technology transfer company, are designed to meet industry needs.

Since its founding in 1974, the formula for Cooperative Education – alternating quarters of the way with paid internships in industry – is one of the strengths of the ETS.

The environment of high level that the proposed ETS is based on the expertise of its faculty, personalized coaching and training focused on practical work, laboratory exercises and projects in support of regular lessons. Because of its dynamism and its increasing customer base and its curriculum in recent years, the ETS will expand its campus to provide an environment more suitable to his students.

Another notable feature, the ETS is the only academic institution in Quebec to offer baccalaureate programs in engineering, specifically designed for technical college graduates and ensuring continuity in their training. All undergraduate programs lead to admission to the Order of Engineers of Quebec.

The distinct approach of ETS, its unique partnership with industry, plans for international cooperation with many countries and applied research activities of the professors are among the great schools and engineering faculties in Quebec and Canada.

Studying at ETS

At ETS, all courses are given in French. Students must therefore have a reasonable knowledge of this language. However, numerous reference books used by professors are written in English.

Located in the heart of City of Saguenay, Université du Québec à Chicoutimi campus consists of modern infrastructure fully adapted to the needs of teaching and research in academia. As its name suggests, the main pavilion contains the main services offered to students and staff, as well as several teaching laboratories and research in most disciplines.

Integrated into the main pavilion with pedestrian connections underground and surface, the Pavilion of the humanities, the Sports Pavilion, the Arts Pavilion and the Pavilion of icing research facilities are more specialized to meet community needs. The Pavilion of Forest Research and the Research Building on the heat treatment of wood complement the major facilities of the University.

Also on campus, we find three student residences, a daycare and the Center for Aluminum Technology, which is a major research infrastructure administered by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).

UQAC can also count on a forest education and research of 25 km2, 20 minutes from campus, fully equipped with facilities tailored to their needs.

Finally, UQAC has four university centers, colleges located in Alma, Charlevoix, Saint-Félicien and Sept-Iles.

International

The University of Quebec at Chicoutimi opens to the world and hosts each quarter, students from 30 different countries. In Algeria, Benin, China, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, France, Gabon, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia and Zaire, they are nearly 200 annually, to enjoy a middle school and be more active and beneficial, in addition to a diverse array of programs at all academic levels.

On the other hand, students can UQAC, too, open to the world. Indeed, many of them decide each year to pursue part of their plan to study outside of Quebec. Scholarships, worth $750 or $1,000 per month, are also allocated to those who want the challenge of studying abroad.

In addition, the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi opens its training programs in partnership with universities in Morocco, Lebanon, Brazil, China, Colombia and Senegal. They are so many students from around the world enrolled in more than 20 educational programs on sectors of economic and administrative sciences, information technology management, education, regional development, study companies and computer, and at different academic levels.

Finally, the presence of our office for international cooperation facilitates the development of new institutional linkages at the international level, identification of sources of funding and exchange programs for students and teachers as well as assistance with export training programs.

Research

In aspects devoted to research, the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research cultivates its supporting role to its scholarly community, managing the internal politics of research and participating in intramural funding of individual researchers and its teams of researchers, particularly through the Program for Institutional Research (PAIR) and program grant from the Foundation of the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi (FUQAC).

The team also provides deanship tangible support to researchers who wish to receive a notice about the implementation of their research designs for submission to granting councils and funding, this could result in a commented reading, developing writing strategies, the ‘scaffolding of a financial or even direct assistance in the drafting of a first request for new researchers. By maintaining the strategic research, which announces the key priorities of the institution, the team finally dean provides researchers with an optimal positioning of their work against the targeted orientation.

The excellence of scientific activity, the contribution of research to the quality of teaching and research contributions to the advancement of knowledge and development of the community are the three main objectives in this area of ‘scholarship by the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi. These objectives, UQAC food by the development of areas and research directions which are grafted programs of graduate studies. These research directions often elsewhere to plug the middle of implantation UQAC. Thus, the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, considered as basic functional unit of the social and economic life, becomes an operational concept and a privileged laboratory to lead to knowledge of universal significance. The result is conclusive: more research programs, regional connotation to attract the attention of Canadian and foreign scientists for their excellence and their interest in terms of general knowledge.

Internships and Jobs

It is possible to do internships in several programs of study offered at UQAC. This mode of training is central to education because it allows students to combine theoretical knowledge acquired in class to the requirements of the workplace.

The programs with the placements:

<a
