At the forefront of technology in its campus located in downtown Montreal, the Université du Québec – École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) offers an environment conducive to an exciting student life. Its educational programs specializing in applied and engineering-oriented technology transfer company, are designed to meet industry needs.

Since its founding in 1974, the formula for Cooperative Education – alternating quarters of the way with paid internships in industry – is one of the strengths of the ETS.

The environment of high level that the proposed ETS is based on the expertise of its faculty, personalized coaching and training focused on practical work, laboratory exercises and projects in support of regular lessons. Because of its dynamism and its increasing customer base and its curriculum in recent years, the ETS will expand its campus to provide an environment more suitable to his students.

Another notable feature, the ETS is the only academic institution in Quebec to offer baccalaureate programs in engineering, specifically designed for technical college graduates and ensuring continuity in their training. All undergraduate programs lead to admission to the Order of Engineers of Quebec.

The distinct approach of ETS, its unique partnership with industry, plans for international cooperation with many countries and applied research activities of the professors are among the great schools and engineering faculties in Quebec and Canada.

Studying at ETS

At ETS, all courses are given in French. Students must therefore have a reasonable knowledge of this language. However, numerous reference books used by professors are written in English.

ETS welcomes each year students whose mother tongue is not French; in most cases, they quite rapidly adapt to their new language of study.

  • Receiving over 2,600 participants yearly, the Advanced Training Service at ETS offers many intensive seminars on quality, management, technology, and informatics each semester.
  • Thanks to support from its partners and from its Development Fund, ETS disburses over $800,000 in scholarships to its students annually.
  • The amount of money dedicated to research can go up to 7 million dollars annually. About 40% of that comes from industrial research contracts.
  • ETS counts:
    • 70 lecture rooms equipped with microcomputers linked to ETS network and with multimedia projection systems
    • 100 laboratories dedicated to teaching and to research, integrating the latest technological innovations
    • a library containing 60,000 specialized sciences and engineering documents, and subscribed to 4,000 periodicals
    • university residences on campus, accommodating 390 students.
